The Oh Wells’ Sarah Jickling is a sweetheart, and this is shown through her personality and her music. When bubbly vocals are splashed together with indie-pop delightness, the music simply makes you happy. I meet Sarah Jickling, face and anchor of the band The Oh Wells, in Kafka’s coffee house. The place is full of people loudly playing board games and chatting over strong coffees. We sip green tea as she tells me about the dance class she’ll be attending in an hour.
“It’s actually a burlesque class!” She says excitedly. This, as I find out, is not something she would ever have dreamed of doing four or five years ago, but the existence of The Oh Wells changed that. Read more:

There are very few things in this world that can stop me dead in my tracks like a voice. Whether it be a powerful, beautiful, understated, gruff or quirky. A voice can break me. Here is a quick list of my favorite voices in the NW right now. Normally, I try to get all poetic and long winded, but this time, I am just going to allow the voices to sell you.
When did you first discover your creative talents?
I always wanted to be a poet when I was little. Before I learned how to write, I would dictate my poems to my mom and then illustrate the pictures. I still have one of the first poems I ever wrote. It’s called “I love shoes and chocolate”. I was about four years old.
In mid February, Sarah from The Oh Wells came out to one of her favorite stores,Front & Company, for a photoshoot with Ryan West! After that, we went to a cafe to interview Sarah about her fashion influences, favorite stores and thoughts about Vancouver fashion. This is only the first of two parts!
